The first step in designing an effective cartoon character mascot is the concept sketch.
At least three sketches are offered to the client, each showing distinct characteristics
and a different pose. Concept sketches are drawn freehand in Photoshop, using an electronic
pen and a pressure sensitive tablet.
The client selects the concept sketch that best captures his or her vision of the character and offers suggestions for changes, if needed. The changes are made and a new sketch submitted to the client. This process is repeated until the client descides the character mascot is exactly right.
On the average, only three changes are made to the original concept sketch. Only occasionally are more than three changes necessary.
